It was named by Acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma, one of the great Sanskrit scholars of Himachal Pradesh. Dalhousie, named after Lord Dalhousie has scenic views that will completely leave you mesmerized. Khajjiar, no less than a dreamland is popularly known as the “Mini Switzerland of India”. This tinsel town is famous for its old world charm and natural splendor. Dalhousie has many churches of architectural devise and other scenic spots. Manali undoubtedly, is a true wonder of Himachal Pradesh filled with waterfalls like Jogini falls, Zana falls and Rahala falls, the magnificent river Beas, snow capped hills and pine trees that entice millions of hill station lovers. One can witness a variety of temples like the Hidimba Temple, ancient monasteries, besides engaging in a lot of adventurous activities like paragliding, ice skating and mountaineering happening in the marvelous Solang Valley.

Detailed Itinerary Day Wise

Day 1 : The Fun Starts Here

After pick-up from Chandigarh, embark on a drive to the town of Dalhousie. Founded by the British as a summer retreat for their officers, Dalhousie has gained immense popularity as a holiday destination in recent times. Moderate elevation, scenic environs, cool weather and colonial charm all make it worth a visit. After checking-in at the hotel here, relax, and in the evening head out for shopping. While roaming around in the market, be sure to have some local culinary preparations. Following the venture, get a good night’s sleep back at the hotel.

Day 2 : Dalhousie Charms

Freshen up before going on a sightseeing tour in and around the town. The excursion includes a visit to the Subhash Baoli, named after Subhas Chandra Bose who used to come here on a regular basis. The undisturbed quietness and tall trees everywhere will boost your inner self. Panchpula, a meeting point of several streams is also on the list of the attractions to be explored today. There are numerous waterfalls nearby and a memorial to Sardar Ajit Singh, a prominent revolutionary, is also located here. Also during the day, head to Bhulwani Mata Temple which is significant for the devotees of Goddess Durga. The area around the temple that has towering fir trees is ideal just to sit and gaze at distant mountains. Your experience will become better when you see the Bakrota Hills that might have snow on top. After this tour, retreat to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3 : Off To Manali

Post waking up, check-out from the hotel and travel to yet another bewitching hill station, Manali. Located at an altitude of approximately 6720 feet above sea level, Manali is visited by hordes of people every year. Its charm is a result of tall deodar tress and snowy mountains all around and its rich culture. After reaching the hotel in this wonderful town, get some rest. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or head out on your own to see what Manali has to offer. Thereafter, come back to the hotel, and head straight to your room to retire for the night.

Day 4 : Rohtang Calls

Get ready for some excitement as today, you will get to travel to Rohtang Pass, one of the most popular attractions in the area. The drive will take you through forests of fir and deodar and as you will come across the tree line, the trees will tend to diminish and instead blossoming grasslands will come into view. Due to its height, the pass is popular with mountain bikers, road trippers and also with nature buffs and photographers for the views it offers. On reaching here, take the weight off your feet and relax or explore the area on foot; don’t forget to click pictures. After returning to the hotel, you will find your comfortable bed waiting for you to lie down.

Day 5 : Manali Unfolds

After freshening up, it is time for a comprehensive tour which will acquaint you with the culture and natural beauty of the town. On the excursion, you can visit the famous Hadimba Devi Temple situated in a deodar forest. It is known for its pagoda-like structure and intricate carvings on its wooden door. Another religious site here is Manu Temple, a rather plain brick shrine with wooden interiors. It offers scenic views of deodar-covered mountains in whichever direction you look. Vashisht Village is another popular attraction in the town as it has hot sulfur springs. A dip in the waters is said to relieve people of stress and several ailments. The Vashisht Temple here is believed to be over 4000 years old; it also has detailed carvings on its exterior. You can also shop for Tibetan and Kashmiri artworks and ethnic jewels in the village. You can also stroll in Old Manali, the cultural heart of the town. Here, the houses are built in the traditional style, prevailing in the Himalayas. After exploring the town, enjoy the evening at leisure and later head back to the hotel to sleep the night away.

Day 6 : Adios Manali

This is the end of the tour and you will now make your way back through the mountains to Chandigarh from where you can go your own way.
