Day 1 : The Ridge

At only a mere distance of 2 kilometers from the Shimla Railway Station, The Ridge is a big open space nestled in the heart of Shimla and is one of the popularly and primly visited tourist places to visit in Shimla. It is located alongside the Mall Road which is undoubtedly the best place to shop in Shimla.The Ridge is connected through most of the chief places of Shimla namely, the Lakkar Bazaar, Mall, Scandal Point and Jakhu Hill though the movement of vehicles is firmly prohibited here. The Ridge is all the time bustling with huge crowds. Travelers across the world visit the place especially for the view of the dusk. The Ridge at is known to offer its travelers with a view of the age old Christ Church which is built in the Neo-Gothic style of architecture and also the statue of YS Parmar, founder of Himachal Pradesh.The Ridge is famed for the different government functions that are majorly held and it generally is the venue for such celebrations. Not to forget the Summer Festival that is held in the month of April or May which is the most favored during which the entire Shimla comes alive with bustling in flavor of festivity. The Ridge provides marvelous scenes of the snow-capped hills of the Himalayas, fine walks through oak and blossoming rhododendron all through the year.
